TONY SCARBOROUGH                                      Role - Member without portfolio

Tony Scarborough profile pic I am one of the three members without portfolio on the committee and I am programme organiser for the Tuesday morning walks (with Richard Godbolt).

I was born in Birmingham and have lived in Leicester since 1981. I have been a member of the Ramblers for many years and became more involved about 9 yrs ago just prior to retirement. I have been a regular on the Tuesday 6 mile walks with my wife Liz, and we sometimes join the Friday 'car free' walks.

I am now enjoying an active retirement having worked previously in a variety of NHS mental health services for 35 yrs. I am convinced of the mental health benefits of walking, especially in a group which provides stimulating social contact, as well as exercise and connection to the natural environment.

I am a keen table tennis player and play in the Leicester league. I enjoy snooker and will play anyone who fancies a game. Liz and I are members of a social cycling club – ‘Ramblers on wheels’. I enjoy live music and films and we are regular visitors to the Phoenix cinema.

Previous volunteer roles have included being a school governor and various roles in connection with Holy Cross church in Leicester, which we have attended for many years.

Favourite topics for Rambling conversations:  Sport, Music, Films.
